There are many misconceptions about the careers of artists, and musicians in particular. You might think that if a singer can perform on stage with one of your favorite famous artists, they might have a shot at becoming rich and famous one day themselves. But this is not always the case.

Being an artist isn’t just a job, it’s a way of life, and it takes commitment, courage, and patience. In the same way, there are many misconceptions we all have about any career path, and how a person might view the career they’ve ended up with.

By combining the observation of one artist’s path with conversations and interviews Joshua Caleb Smith (artist, Joshua C.S.) has with other artists and non-artists, both young and old, about what they do and why they do it, we see deeper into the meaning of success.
