Ok, I wasn’t going to reveal this yet, but I’m SO EXCITED I had to share! Since I’m going to be a travelling vagabond for a few months, I’ve decided to pick up a new instrument I can solo on while I play and sing… The harmonica is my new girlfriend. I love her.
This instrument is kicking my butt so far though! Holy damn, I can’t imagine trying to learn anything in a few weeks time like I am now… I think it’s just going to have to be work in progress along the way. But every time I put on that harmonica holder, around my neck, I fall a little more deeply in love.
She’s teaching me a whole new way of looking at music and performing… After all, I’m a blues guy – soul, through and through – but I’m really pushing myself to tap into the simplicity of my southern roots. I’m turning more and more folk everyday! I just wrote a song inspired by Townes Van Zandt. As soon as I hear a song from these folk singers I just get so inspired and find myself with 3 new songs by the end of the night.
I am thoroughly enjoying this new wave of energy gearing up for my trip ahead. Can’t wait to get on the road and find out what lies ahead!
